In the film, a dystopic Capitol requires its twelve subjugated districts to pay tribute in the form of a teenage boy and girl who are forced to participate in the annual Hunger Games, the fight to the death on live TV. Each young representative, both male and female, are selected by lottery and they are forced to participate in the said televised games. Partly entertainment and partly brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are being broadcasted all throughout Panem for everybody to see.
In here, the participants are being forced to eliminate their competitors and win the game. So when Katniss Everdeen’s 16-year old younger sister was chosen to represent their district, she became worried of her and immediately decided to take her place. While in the game, although persevering through hardship was commonplace for Katniss, she must start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love in order to win the games and return home.
The film is set to hit in movie theaters on the 23rd of March 2012 and it is going to be distributed by Lionsgate. The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, and many others. It is written by Suzanne Collins and directed by Gary Ross. This is going to be one of the highlighted films this year 2012.
